What does my French Bulldog need? Top rated items for my Frenchie

Unleashing the Best Products for French Bulldogs - Elevate Their Lifestyle!

French Bulldogs, with their charming personalities and adorable looks, have become one of the most popular dog breeds in recent years. These small, compact dogs are known for their friendly nature, making them great companions for families and individuals alike. If you're soon to be or ARE a proud Frenchie parent, you want to ensure your furry friend has the best products to lead a happy and healthy life. In this blog, we'll explore some of the top products that every French Bulldog owner should consider!

Quality Dog Food
Proper nutrition is essential for the overall health and well-being of your French Bulldog. Look for high-quality dog food that is specifically formulated for small breeds or French Bulldogs. French bulldogs often have many allergies and/or sensitive stomachs. Raw Diet is best, but can be pricey. You can also make your own food, if needed. There are other products that are helpful on the market as well. Here are a few highly rated suggestions:

Human Grade Dog Kibble

Open Farm is human grade dog food that is formulated with support of experts to meet AAFCO standards. (We personally use this food for all our dogs and foster dogs. It is human grade kibble, which makes feeding easy, and still affordable).
  • Premium meats, sustainably caught fish, & GMO-free vegetables
  • No preservatives or fillers
Raw is the best nutrition for your French bulldog.

For sensitive stomachs I suggest Hills Science Diet as an affordable alternative to Raw. Raw diet will always be the best, but some other products can help.

Interactive Toys
French Bulldogs are playful by nature and need mental stimulation to stay happy. Invest in interactive toys like puzzle feeders and treat-dispensing toys. These toys engage your Frenchie's mind and keep them entertained while you're away or when it's too rainy for outdoor play. Our French bulldogs have ball obsession and used to pop and destroy any balls we had. We discovered that these balls are the best, indestructible balls for their size!
Yes, they are racquetballs! They are THE BEST for small sized dogs and totally indestructible!

Our dogs are also obsessed with soccer balls. These seem to work the best without them popping them :)

Comfortable Crate or Dog Bed
Providing a comfortable and safe space for your French Bulldog is crucial. Whether you prefer a crate or a cozy dog bed, make sure it's appropriately sized for your Frenchie's comfort. Dogs, including French Bulldogs, often feel secure in an appropriately sized crate, which can also aid in house training.

Grooming Supplies
French Bulldogs have short coats, but they still require regular grooming to keep their skin healthy and free from skin fold irritations. Invest in a soft-bristle brush for weekly grooming and use a mild dog shampoo for baths. Don't forget to clean the wrinkles on their face regularly to prevent skin problems.
We use these wipes for skin folds and between their toes.

Our dogs do have allergies so we use this for bathing.

Dental Care Products
Oral health is often overlooked but is crucial for your Frenchie's overall well-being. Get a dog-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste to maintain their dental hygiene. Dental chews or toys designed to promote oral health can also be beneficial.
We use these:

Stainless Steel Food and Water Bowls
French Bulldogs are prone to allergies, and using stainless steel bowls can help reduce the risk of skin irritations that can be caused by plastic or ceramic bowls. Additionally, stainless steel bowls are easy to clean and maintain.
These are our favorite because they have grip on the bottom and don't slide around, plus they are affordable :)
Cooling Vest or Mat
French Bulldogs are sensitive to extreme temperatures, especially heat. A cooling vest or mat can keep them comfortable during hot weather walks or outings. These products help regulate your Frenchie's body temperature and prevent overheating.

Health Insurance
Consider investing in pet insurance to provide peace of mind in case of unexpected medical expenses. French Bulldogs are prone to certain health issues, and having insurance can alleviate financial stress during difficult times. We personally use PetsBest, but there are other options out there. We find that PetsBest is the best plan for our dogs.

Stairs or a Ramp
If you allow your dog on the couch or your bed, stairs or a ramp will be essential as French Bulldogs are prone to back issues and IVDD. Too much jumping can cause them chronic pain. Our favorite is this ramp. This is very sturdy and can be adjusted as needed. This holds up against our 3 dogs much better than others we have had in the past.

Owning a French Bulldog can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with many responsibilities. Providing your Frenchie with the best products ensures their comfort, health, and happiness. It is incredibly important to do your research on Frenchies before deciding to own one. They can be challenging, and surprises may pop up if you are ill prepared. Remember that every dog is unique, so it's essential to tailor your choices to your individual pet's needs and preferences. Regular vet check-ups and plenty of love and attention are just as crucial as the products you choose to enhance your French Bulldog's quality of life.

Please consider adoption as there are many Frenchies that need loving homes. I suggest checking out SNAFURESCUE.ORG to find your forever best friend!
